Ineligible For Settlement Status

Short sale settlement requests submitted to Freddie Mac are automatically decisioned as either Approved for Settlement or Ineligible for Settlement. A request is in an INELIGIBLE FOR SETTLEMENT status when the information provided does not meet eligibility criteria for an approval.

You can do the following when a request is in an INELIGIBLE FOR SETTLEMENT status:

  1. Click the Exception Review  button to submit the request to Freddie Mac. Refer to the Request an Exception Review help topic for more information.
  2. Click the Settle  button to resubmit the settlement request with updated information. Refer to the How to Submit a Settlement Request help topic for more information.
  3. Click the Cancel Request  button to cancel the workout request. Refer to the Request a Cancellation help topic for more information.

Important: If the settlement request was originally submitted via the Resolve Liquidation API, then any subsequent request must also be submitted through the API (e.g., requests for exception review, cancellation, and settlement). Refer to the API Exception Review Process help topic for additional guidance around short sale workouts and settlements decisioned as "ineligible" in the Resolve Liquidation API.
